2025 Howard Vineyard "Icon" Chardonnay
Luscious aromas of white blossom, lemon curd and fresh stone fruit, complimented by notes of brioche and hints of spring blossom. These primary characters are then complimented with a nutty, vanilla-cream character from the use of the new French oak. A lemon compote flavour lingers on the palate producing a well balanced prime example of a cool climate Chardonnay.

Winemaking
Vineyard: Beautiful Valley Vineyard, Charleston, Block A & B Elevation: 380-410 AMSL Clones: Bernard 76 and 95, Block A. EW, High sloped hill. Optimum yields are approximately 6 tonnes per hectare. Winemaking This Chardonnay is hand-picked from Block A & B. The fruit is chilled, hand sorted and whole bunch pressed in an oxidative environment. The free run juice only goes straight into French oak barriques for natural fermentation. This gives the wine layers of flavors and texture. Once the primary ferment this complete this parcel does not undergo malolactic fermentation, keeping the wines fresh and vibrant. The remaining free run juice is separated and fermented in second and third used tight grain French oak, where natural and full malolactic fermentation is completed. The wine is held there for 8 months with regular stirring to give richness and additional texture. Only the best barrels are then selected for our Amos Chardonnay.
Bouquet
Bouquet of fresh white florals and ripe stone fruits, with a subtle, seasoned oak influence. Bright citrus undertones of lemon zest and lime leaf provide a vibrant lifting effect, enhancing the wine ' s aromatic complexity.
Palate
Palate has a wave of lemon and lime citrus drives the entry, offering a precise, mouthwatering acidity. This brightness evolves into a fleshy mid-palate rich with juicy white peach and nectarine flavors. The wine finishes with remarkable persistence, culminating in a luxurious, creamy note of toasted apricot danish.
