2025 Howard Vineyard Estate Pinot Noir
Vibrant cherry, strawberry and perfumed musk, Chinese 5 spice and a touch of vanilla. A delicious combination of fruit and savoury characters. Sour cherry, fresh cut rhubarb and a hint of earthiness. Finishing with delightfully soft tannins.

Winemaking
Vineyard: Beautiful Valley Vineyard (Charleston) Elevation: 500 AMSL Clones: MV6, 115, 777 & 114, Abel, Pommard Optimum yields are approximately 8 tonnes per hectare. Winemaking Grapes are handpicked and all 6 clones were kept separate. The fruit was de-stemmed and chilled with minimal crushing into small open top fermenters. The must was allowed to macerate at low temperature for 2 days before warming. The ferment started slowly but was allowed to reach a peak temperature of 26 degrees before chilling. The wine was pressed from the skins prior to becoming dry to retain fresh fruit character and avoid extractive tannins. The wine finished fermentation in a stainless-steel tank and was then racked in new French Oak for malolactic fermentation. The wine was racked barrel to barrel and allowed to mature in our cool cellars for a further 8 months in 400L & 500L French Oak puncheons. The wine was then bottled with minimal clarification and So2.
Bouquet
Bouquet has a depth and colour intensity not seen in this wine in vintages past. Bright and rich mulberry, pomegranate, dark cherry, ripe strawberry and raspberry leap from the glass and provide a beautiful platform that allows the interwoven earthy complexity and savoury spice to shine through. Chinese 5 spice, liquorice, mushroom and clove all form part of a wonderfully layered nose.
Palate
Palate shows a delicious combination of ripe red fruits shine through and are framed by a refreshing acidity. Fine tannins help to elevate the wines ’ savoury side with baking spices, rose petals and star anise filling the descriptors coulmn. A more concerntrated and structured example not previously witnessed in vintages prior.
